Journalist | Programmer | Engineer

Welcome to my website. I am Samarth Bansal—New Delhi native, journalist, software engineer and a wannabe polymath.

I am a data and computational journalist with the Hindustan Times in New Delhi, where I use code and data to tell news stories. I am currently on a sabbatical and reporting for the Wall Street Journal in New York as part of the Alfred Friendly Fellowship Class of 2018. Previously, I reported for The Hindu in New Delhi. You can see some of my work here.

I studied Mathematics and Scientific Computing at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. While in college, for a little over two years, I was the lead software developer at the then infant stage Mumbai-based startup, m.Paani, where I was employee #1.
